Mini Module Mondays.

Now you may have gotten a sense from our info that we’re big into heart work. We’ve been doing lots of our own over here (and will continue to do so!) but we think this stuff is important, so every Monday we are going to share with you a mini module. Some Heart-work you can do in 20 minutes or less.

So grab a pen and a quiet place and lets get to work!

When I was away in Florida we were trying to drive home and traffic was BAD. Bumper to bumper and really long lights. Cars to the right of us were just WHIZZING by, it was sooo tempting to just pull over there, just to feel like I was going SOMEWHERE. Especially with two kiddos who were admittedly driving me BANANAS.

Then Addy said “Mamma, why don’t you go over there, it’s going so much faster, we are not moving at allllllllllllllll” and then I had to tell the truth, and stick it out in the waiting:

“Sweetie, that lane is going onto the highway, in the opposite direction of where we would go…so though we’d be moving, we wouldn’t get home, in the end, it would probably take us even LONGER”

Ugh…. ok mamma. So we wait. And we wait, and we crawl along. But truth is, we got home WAYYYY Faster than if we had taken the highway in the complete wrong direction….

Sometimes hard to see that people are moving, and making changes and having success and we want to just jump ship from our path and make a move. Especially when in comparison it looks like you’re not moving at all.

I’d encourage you to walk through the questions below, with some thought and write out your answers. It still amazes me the things that sometimes come up when I am writing my thoughts!

Where in your life lately have you been finding yourself not just focusing on “your own lane”?

In the past (or present) have you ever tried to follow someone else’s direction? Do what someone else was doing, or go the way they were going? How did that work for you?

Have you ever been in line at a store and noticed another lane moving more quickly and then switched, only to have the line you WERE in start going faster?

Fun fact : moving lanes out of the one you originally picked almost ALWAYS slows us down, especially if it come out of a fear of being last! Check it out!

So how do you not get caught up in other people’s lanes, lines or lives?

Be confident in the direction you are going and the choices you are making for your life.

Challenge your own thinking, when you start feeling like the grass is greener somewhere else, think of all the green areas in your own life.

Take some time to write some things that you are grateful for in your own life right now, as a reminder you can look at anytime.
