It’s a day away from 2019. And I am so thankful for #powersheets.

If you haven’t heard of Lara Casey, her Making Things Happen Intensive and Power Sheets…you should check it out!

She is part of the reason that I started Living Your Awesome Life, started hosting retreats, and part of how I have learned to live what matters, making changes and taking time to reflect on who I am and who I want to be!

I have done some heart work to decide what matters most for me and my family for this season…and one of the things, one of the reoccurring threads that was coming up in my notes is that I want to capture our family’s life and stories in a way that lets me create a blog book again. And there is no time like the present. So I started today. With getting outside with my family. (Another thread that came up constantly in my figuring what matters most for us!)  If you find the writing hard to read, you can check it out at the bottom of this post! This is part of how I #livemyawesomelifeand I wanted to share it with you!

We skipped church this morning. It’s pretty amazing how rarely we do that now, for quite some time I wasn’t well enough to enjoy church and took any excuse to miss it.

My mamma watched the kids last night so I got to sleep in (oh GLORY!!!) and so I didn’t rush to get ready. I wanted to enjoy some time outside with my family, even though it was a wee bit cold. We almost skipped our first waterfall walk when we saw the Fireroad from the highway. We braved it as a far as we felt safe and walked the rest. Addy brought her new camera which was fun to watch. It was a little cold for her little fingers, so she just took a few, but she has been doing great and I love to be able to watch her interest grow in something that I love so much.

We had made a back up plan in case we weren’t able to get down the fire road and decided to fuel up and head for waterfall number two.

I think some of my favourite moments were watching the kids just play as I took photographs, making a skating pond for mice; they were playing with ice, observing the details in nature. I loved the beautiful gems of ice on the branches, the way the layers of ice fit together with little frozen flakes, packed with snow, sharp shards of ice all layered in one piece knocked off.

One thing Alex has especially done well is making sure that the kids are used to being outside, and so they did really well, but the long fireroad uphill covered with ice was a bit slow on the brain front, so they took turns kicking ice uphill….so simple…but it really did help! I had to kick a few chunks myself to stay distracted from the chill on my cheeks.

Once Finn’s feet got freezzen we turned around and headed back to the car where we warmed up and nodded off (‘cept daddy who chauffeured home)
